Constitutional voting rights were restored to Floridian former felons after an approval by voters during the 2018 election. However the Republican held state swiftly added a clause that came in the form of new legislation requiring all legal debts to be paid in order to legally exercise that right.
Is it appropriate for the state of Florida to require ex felons, many disenfranchised to be debt free while the United States itself drowns in debt? Or is this just another effort to suppress black and minorities as a whole? If the state of Florida has been just to it’s citizens what do they stand to lose by everyone voting?
